PIAZZA ASCLEPIUS

Rome, Italy

Piazza Asclepius is a piazza design on the Tiber Island of Rome. The Piazza’s design is informed by its past as the island of healing. The program includes a gym, for physical health, a library for mental health, and a pre-existing church for spiritual health. The idea of mind, body, and spirit forms the piazza. The symbol of Asclepius, the god of medicine, appears throughout the project, with the pre-exisitng symbol on the Tiber Island “Ship.” Designed in collaboration with Marisa Hartfield for Professor Roberto Behar's studio course at the University of Miami School of Architecture in Rome.
